Teenager, 16, fighting for life as 13-year-old schoolboy, arrested after 'disturbance' in Glasgow park

A teenager is fighting for his life in hospital after being “seriously injured” during a disturbance in a Glasgow park.

Police have confirmed that a 16-year-old boy is in a “critical” condition in hospital after being found in Greenfield Park, Cranhill, at around 8.15pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended the scene on Erskbank Street, where the 16-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident and also taken to hospital.

Police said investigations were ongoing and a significant number of officers would remain in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 8.15pm on Friday 31 May 2024, we were called to reports of a disturbance in the Cranhill area of ​​Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended Greenfield Park, Erskbank Street, and found a 16-year-old man seriously injured.

“He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff described his condition as critical.

“A 13-year-old boy was also taken to hospital for treatment.

“He was arrested in connection with the incident.

“Investigations are ongoing and there will continue to be a significant police presence in the area while officers carry out their investigation.

“Anyone with concerns or information can speak to these officers or contact Police Scotland on 101.”
